Unlike machines (admittedly, some do get deceptively close) or other animals, humans understand the world through abstraction and inferential connection. Rationality isn’t static and we don’t always use the right conceptual tools. Nor can we recall everything we’ve ever learned off the top of our heads. To compensate, I’ve found it helpful to keep track of and continuously revisit any useful/non-trivial ideas I come across. Also included are random bits of trivia I find particularly interesting.
Instead of simply linking to a formal definition, I write a short description of each term. I try my best to optimise for brevity without regressing into the uninformative.
The concepts are sorted by (rough) categories below. They’re also archived by date (there is no meaning to the temporal order, just think of it as a ‘sort by random’).
